Gargoyles for Halloween

Are gargoyles warding off evil spirits or merely a water spout? Hard to say for sure on Halloween night.

I've always had a fascination with gargoyles. Some are cute while others clearly appear to be evil. At any rate, they adorn medieval churches all over Europe. It is interesting that similar adornments can also be found in Asia too though this post will focus on the ones in Europe.
