China's Li Jiang River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo

The names may not be familiar but the photos just might be. The Li Jiang river passes through some of the most beautiful scenery in China. The weathered limestone mountains provide a stunning backdrop to the meandering river. The water buffalos and small fishing boats push the ambiance over the top.

Cruising the river is one of the big tourist attractions in the area and there were dozens of larger boats filing down the river single file along with hundreds of small ones. The benefit of so many boats was to add scale to the sheer limestone cliffs that abutted the river.

The trip down the river was about 40km long and the mountains never stopped. Every turn on every bend offered a new and stunning photo opportunity. We literally have hundreds of photos of the excursion. It never got boring so we just kept shooting. The Li Jiang river is one of our China highlights.
