Valparaiso is just one of those places that sticks in your memory. At first it appears as a dilapidated and run down coastal city, and for good reason, since certain parts of the city are definitely dilapidated and run down. There is graffiti everywhere, and I mean everywhere, but some of that graffiti is high quality art. When you look a little deeper, it is easy to see the colour and beauty that is Valparaiso.
Here are some of our favourite photos. Hopefully they will inspire you to drive the two hours west of Santiago and check it out for yourself the next time you're in Chile. Enjoy.
We stayed in the historic Hotel Reina Victoria on the third floor which set the stage for our visit.
It soon became apparent that the hillside vistas were beautiful so we made it our mission to visit each of the city's main lookout points to take it all in.
It was a very pretty on a macro level. And then there was the detail in all of that graffiti. We even caught an artist (vandal?)at work.
Even the port was full of colour and vibrancy.
